WHAT IS AN OPTIUM BRAIN STATE?

An optimum Brain State is dynamic or plastic. This means that the brain is not “stuck” in a pattern of “static” that inhibits it to be dynamic or plastic. An optimum brain state is balanced – left to right, front to back and harmonised – various frequencies within a given area of the brain are produced proportionate to the function of the brain at the time. Higher frequencies are required for higher functioning – so when the brain is required to perform a higher function (eyes open at task) then a higher percentage of higher frequencies are expected and a lower percentage of low frequencies are expected.

A brain develops a pattern to save its life in the event of a life threatening trauma or a perceived life threatening trauma. But, following the trauma, the brain simply does not have a means to move back to a more balanced and harmonised state – it cannot find its own more optimised pattern following some traumas. Example – a fetus has the cord wrapped around its neck to limit oxygen. The brain detects the on-going trauma and slows the growth of extremities in order to save oxygen so the baby is born with limited extremity capacity, perhaps also limited speech or vision capability. When the brain is later trained using BSC (and in one case this was 23 years after birth), the newly trained brain developed capability to have vision, to reason through the rage he felt, and to begin to mobilize extremities in new ways. When the brain changed its “stuck” pattern – even though the “stuck” pattern kept it alive when it was a fetus – the change added capabilities and the new capabilities did not threaten the organism. So, the brain moved toward an optimised state. A brain with “static” might be one that keeps the organism at hyper-vigilance – a brain with this kind of “static” may be one of a soldier whose hyper-vigilance keeps him/her alive in combat, but doesn’t serve them well when they return to the U.S. In fact, at home, the static or hyper-vigilance of the soldier’s brain is simply a distraction from assuming an everyday balanced and peace-filled life-style.

HOW IS AN UNBALANCED OR DISHARMONIUS BRAIN STATE DETECTED?

An assessment process is used to detect where the brain may be out of balance and/or disharmonious. When these out-of-balance locations are calculated, the brain locations and out-of-balance conditions are defined by the software. The brain location is referred to as a montage and the approach to help rebalance the brain at that location is referred to as a design. The two together – montage and design – make up a protocol. Protocols are chosen to help lead the brain of an individual back to a state of balance and harmony so that the brain can over-come its own trauma pattern or eliminate its own dominant static.

The assessment also generates questions which the trainer can ask the client so that the client can understand that the assessment process is looking at their brain uniquely. To assist the trainer to better understand the client and some possibilities in the training, the assessment also generates trainer instructions which are considerations for the particular client and their training.

HOW IS AN UNBALANCED OR DISHARMONIUS BRAIN ASSISTED TO BE MORE OPTIMISED?

Each brain is totally unique and yet has certain frequency bands which need to operate in balance. The band itself may vary based on the brain. However, the frequency band that needs to function and perform in a dominant manner over-time is determined by the protocol as part of the assessment process. The protocol selects a functional frequency band and finds a dominant frequency in that band in a second of time. That frequency is translated to a note. (The note is within a comfortable range of frequencies detectable by the human ear. The total range of the human ear is roughly 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz range – but a comfortable range is likely around 32 Hz to 1000 Hz – a middle “C” being about 261.63 Hz. In the next second of time, the next dominant frequency in that chosen band is also translated by computer software into a note. This process progresses and produces a kind of “mirror” or reflection of the band in that brain that represents an optimally performing state. The mirror is actually made up of dominant frequencies within a band of notes which the brain hears. It is really no different than the eye detecting colours and shapes based on frequencies of light reflected from an object. As the brain becomes accustomed to reflection of these dominant frequencies, it also becomes free of its own patterns which were going on outside the optimum state. These less-than-optimised patterns were acting as static or imbalanced functioning. In time, we hypothesise that new neuro-nets are created to restore an over-all brain pattern that is more balanced and harmonised and thus more optimised. The process of Assessment and Brain Training in this manner are referred to as Brain State Conditioning™. Homeostasis is the intended result of this process.

When training session files of different clients are replayed in playback mode, the occurrence of one of these files sounding similar to another is strictly happenstance, not unlike some parts of a finger print of one person can look similar to another, but over-all the finger print is totally specific for an individual. And, even when one session for one person is replayed and compared to another session for the same person, the likeness of these is happenstance in the same way, as the brain is in a new place each 1/1000th of a second so dominant frequencies in a band vary from second to second.

HOW DOES BRAIN STATE CONDITIONING™ CHANGE SPECIFIC LOBES OF THE BRAIN – HOW DOES THE BRAIN KNOW WHEN IT IS BEING OBSERVED?

Though Intellisensors are not directly passing electricity to the brain in any manner, there is a very slight EMF (electromagnetic frequency) which is emitted from them. Placing the sensor on the scalp causes the client to sense the physical presence of the object at that location, AND causes the brain to detect the slight change in EMF at the location too. Thus, some people will tell us that they feel better after an assessment. This is often true because the brain starts to change when it knows it is being observed.

HOW DOES OBSERVATION ALONE CHANGE THE BRAIN?

Each of us changes when we are observed. At some time while walking we felt as if someone was looking at us and when we turned we saw that there in fact was someone indeed looking at us. The observation of another changed us. This is one of the first laws of Quantum Physics – that which is observed is changed. HOW DO BINAURAL BEATS COMPARE TO BRAIN STATE CONDITIONING™ ?

Binaural beats are sounds that play one frequency in one ear and another frequency in the opposite ear. The purpose of binaural beats is to encourage the entire brain to resonate at the difference between the two frequencies being played in each ear. For instance, if one ear had a frequency of 112 Hz and the other ear had a frequency of 100 Hz, the brain would begin to resonate at 12 Hz (112 – 100 = 12). Whether binaural beats are static or step their frequency differences either up or down (ie start with a frequency difference of 8Hz, step that frequency difference up to 12Hz, and then step that frequency difference back down to 8Hz), binaural beats are played the same for, and heard the same way, by everyone who listens to them. They also don’t specifically target certain portions of the brain, and instead can affect the entire brain by coercing (and in some cases actually forcing) all lobes of the brain towards the frequency difference, which is the basis of binaural beat technology. This form of technology would be referred to as entrainment, rather than training.

Binaural beat methods are totally opposite from and adversarial to Brain State Conditioning™ – Binaural beats are meant to change while Brain State Conditioning™ reflects; they are one-size-fits-all and do not account for the individualisation of brain patterns while Brain State Conditioning™ is all about individualisation; Binaural beats do not account for changes in time while Brain State Conditioning™ changes from second-to-second; and Binaural beats are meant to change the entire brain while Brain State Conditioning™ is meant to bring each lobe and each frequency of each lobe into balance and harmony.

WHAT IS THE BASIS OF PRESENT RESEARCH?

Most people consider research to be aimed at "righting a wrong" - or "correcting a problem" - and then building appropriate research criteria around the application of the solution to the designated problem so that efficacy could be proved. Our hypothesis was different - the brain is the most complicated system in the Universe that we know of but yet is control-central for our well being - spiritual, physical, psychological aspects all included as parts controlled by the brain. We did not assume we could find out what was "wrong" with the functional brain pattern. Instead we assumed that we could assist the functional brain to perform optimally by helping it balance itself. And, if the brain was functionally balanced, we hypothesized that following a more balanced brain then some (or maybe all) pathologies would be mitigated to one degree or another. We also hypothesized that a more balanced brain would be a brain which would be relaxed and self-regulated - conditions we saw in the Buddhist monks as well as in those using Brainwave Optimization when their brains moved toward greater balance.

Below are simple pictures of a brain pattern - one balanced and one imbalanced. Maybe a picture is worth a thousands words here.

Our research began and continues to determine the significance for a brain moving toward balance to mitigate any pathologies for the individual client. We are mapping the pathologies associated with specific imbalances, but it will require a large number of clients - probably over 100,000 - to make a case that specific patterns are determinant for specific pathologies. Our research is centered on efficacy in general, and from that efficacy, we have determined new protocol and new methods based on specific functional brain patterns and the noted pathologies of our clients. Observation (including data analysis) has been our primary research vehicle to date.

We are now moving into our next phase of research - we want to "prove efficacy". I know, that sounds goofy and I actually believe it is a bit goofy, but the world uses this method and we need to follow suite. It is not enough that we have 400 soldiers who once had PTSD and who now contend that they are better following Brainwave Optimization than they were before going into the service. We have now filed an IRB application (International Review Board) to perform Brainwave Optimization on soldiers diagnosed with PTSD who will submit to a before-and-after blood draw so we can check PTSD-related blood markers. Thus we will use hard science (blood markers) to prove the more subjective evaluations of the soldiers. We hope to have this research publishable by late this year.
